Do I have to choose a design from the website?

No the pictures are just examples of my work to start your ideas flowing!

How far in advance do I need to order?

As soon as possible really. Some weeks do get booked up. I like to make fruit cake 3 to 6 months in advance. In some cases I can make a cake at short notice, it’s always worth asking. You can book the date without making a final choice for your cake and if you do change your mind on the design it’s not the end of the world!

Can I have a mixture of fruit and sponge cake?

Yes, however if you want a stacked cake the fruit cake will need to be the bottom tier(s)

How many portions will a cake serve?

As an example a 3 tier 10” 8”and 6” will serve approximately 150 guests but this will obviously depend on the size off the slices! A 10” 8” and 6” chocolate cake will serve around 100 portions, to ensure enough slices for a large wedding I can provide cutting cakes. If you choose fruit cake you can send slices to people who were unable to attend the wedding although one Bride’s father told me last week that they had to send it out quickly as he couldn’t stop eating it!

Will I need a cake stand?

If the cake is on a tiered stand this is supplied with the cake (a refundable deposit is required). Some reception venues have silver or gold base stands, or I have a glass base stand in round or square available for hire which gives a more simple and contemporary look to the cake.
